Dad was born April 23, 1938 to Hazel (Leaman) and Willie Eugene Roby in Columbia City, Indiana, where he grew up, graduated Columbia City High School, and volunteered in the U.S. Navy (Chicago). After serving in the Navy Medical Unit he returned to Columbia City, married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Sue Beck, and began a life long career in military support projects for Magnavox Corporation (Fort Wayne).
From 1960 to 1964 he fathered three children (Jeffrey Alan, Christopher Edgar and Cynthia Lynn) and in 1964 the Roby's moved to Highland Drive in the Times Corners area of Fort Wayne. In 1970 the three bedroom ranch reached it's capacity when Michele was born. Ed was a Boy Scout leader for many years and was active in Anthony Wayne 1st Church of God. After retiring from Magnavox he became Trustee for Southwest Allen County Fire Department where he proudly served until his death, November 11, 2009 (which, coincidentally is Veteran's Day).
